 Unity Tutorial 03 - My Experience 


This blog will be about my experience doing tutorial 03. During this tutorial I probably ran into the most annoying issue I've had so far which is that my character wasn't stuck moving withing 20 meters but instead he teleported out of the border and moved infinitely to one side. I tried fixing this issue for a good bit of time but it seemed I did everything right but maybe not. A fix I thought of was making objects on the sides like a fence that the player can't cross so the playable character doesn't go off screen and use the fence as a border. Other than that issue the tutorial went fairly well with minor problems such as spelling mistakes but they were easily fixed once I noticed that I did something wrong.

This tutorial was pretty fun since we got to take control of the environment. I liked that the fact when we press space we would throw our food at the animals I thought it was pretty funny and yes I chose the Pizza prefab because who doesn't like pizza. For the animals I chose a Cow,Moose and Horse. I wanted a variety of speeds the cow was slow whilest the horse was fast. Another aspect of this tutorial I found interesting was the randomized spawns because once I got it to work it looked good and it felt goods that it worked.

 BETA This week I made my game a bit better by giving it some life. I created a terrain that I was happy with after I searched for a youtube video that helped me create terrain. I really liked exploring and creating the terrain and wish I could have made the terrain in my game be more of thing everywhere on the map rather than having some flat paths. I also changed my car as I was running issues where it drove backwards when i wanted it go forward but when I changed to a different car that seemed to fix it.  My Introduction Hello. my name is Endijs Frisvalds, I am a second year student at TU Blanchardstown and I am studying creative digital media. I am 19 years old living in Clondalkin a good 2 hour bus ride away from college.  Game Idea Research From my previous blog, I have given some thought on what I wanted to do. I decided to go with the following idea taken from my previous blog "For this idea I want the player to experience an open world like in GTA where you can drive around in the cars of your choice. In this game I want to create a map where there are coins or some thing scattered around the map. The map will have ramps and building with hidden coins. There will also be score which will award the player with coins currency which they can later use to get faster cars. An example of why you would want a faster car is not only because It's faster and cooler, but it will also allow player to get other coins that only a certain car can obtain. Let's say there is a ramp with a coin in the air. A slow car cannot reach the coin but a faster and better car can reach the coin. With the coins you can also customize whatever vehicle you have.
